What does this purpose cover?

A museum licence authorises showing or exhibiting firearms of the categories and at the premises specified in the licence. This is a separate licence pathway.

What evidence is needed?

Explain the proposed exhibition and firearms. Police guidance requests an affidavit or statutory declaration describing your intention to show or exhibit them.

How do you apply?

Contact Firearms Services for the museum application process and premises requirements. Purpose 8 appears in its information sheets but is not a checkbox on the current standard application form.

What continues after approval?

The museum premises and firearm storage have specific security requirements, including an alarm. Check the complete conditions before planning an exhibition.

Ready to check the next step?

Use the official source beside each section and the current application instructions. For advice about your eligibility, a particular firearm or a condition on your licence, contact Firearms Services.
