Who can apply?

Eligible roles include registered veterinarians, specified RSPCA and government officers, authorised animal-control roles and primary producers. Eligibility depends on the role recognised by the legislation.

Which categories are available?

A or B may be relevant. The reason must arise from the applicant’s eligible role and duties.

What evidence is needed?

Provide qualifications, employment or authorisation evidence and explain why the duties require a firearm. Police guidance suggests an employer letter or, where appropriate, an affidavit or statutory declaration. Category B requires evidence of need.

Applying and ongoing authority

Include the role and duty evidence with your application. Check any other wildlife permissions and keep use within the purpose and conditions approved for you.
