Genuine reason for possession or use · Purpose 2

What does this purpose cover?

Recreational hunting and vermin control use Category A or B, depending on the firearm and demonstrated need.

What evidence is needed?

Provide a permission document from the relevant landholder or authority identifying the land and the animals or vermin you may shoot. A Category B application also needs evidence justifying that category.

How do you apply?

Include the permission document with a new application, or use the endorsement-change process if you already hold the appropriate category. Keep your permission evidence available.

What about another property or hunting permits?

Using another property requires its owner or occupier’s permission; Police may require the document. A firearms licence does not replace any wildlife licence, permit or other authority needed for the activity. Check the relevant NRE requirements before hunting.
