Genuine reason for possession or use · Purpose 1
What does this purpose cover?
This is the purpose used for activities such as clay shooting, rifle target shooting and approved pistol sport. The available categories are A, B and H, subject to their requirements.
Who can apply and what evidence is needed?
You must belong to an approved shooting organisation that conducts activities involving the relevant firearm. Ask it for current membership evidence, including membership dates and the activities it offers. B and H also require evidence of need.
How do you apply?
Include the membership evidence with your application. Pistol applicants also need the club information-exchange approval. Existing holders can apply to add this reason to an appropriate category.
What should you keep in mind?
Maintain the membership supporting your licence. Category H has minimum participation requirements. This purpose alone does not authorise recreational hunting.
