Which firearms are included?
- Self-loading rimfire rifles: magazine capacity no more than ten rounds.
- Self-loading shotguns: magazine capacity no more than five rounds.
- Pump-action shotguns: magazine capacity no more than five rounds.
Who can apply?
The recognised reasons are primary production, qualifying animal population control, or firearms collection. For primary production or animal population control, you must show that Category A/B or other means cannot meet the need.
What evidence is needed?
Explain the work, property or professional role, the animals involved and the need for Category C. Use the current supporting forms and provide the evidence for the particular genuine reason. Collectors follow the collecting requirements.
Possession and use conditions
The ordinary Category C authority allows one qualifying rimfire rifle and one qualifying shotgun, specified on the licence. The collection-only exception has separate conditions. A licence for one purpose does not provide unrestricted use for other activities.
